As Paraty is so small and easy to walk around, there will be no centralized accommodation for the conference - each participant is free to choose according to his taste and pocket.
There are no large hotels in Paraty - instead, accommodation is provided by dozens of small pousadas (guesthouses) and albergues (hostels). All levels of quality and price are well represented. Accommodation in the historic sector (Centro Histórico), where the conference venue (Casa da Cultura) is found, tends to be more expensive. Closer to the bus station, or on the further side of the small river that crosses the town (see maps), prices can be considerably lower. Even in these cases, though, a 10-15 min walk will suffice to reach the Casa da Cultura.
Almost all hotels have internet connection available to guests. Unfortunately, in some hotels the attendants do not speak English. We give below some reference prices for a double room in Brazilian reais (R$). Currently ( Feb 12nd ) US$ 1 ~ R$ 2.85; £1 ~ R$4.35; €1 ~ R$3.25.
Note that the last 2-3 days of the Workshop overlap with an annual touristic event in Paraty, the Festival da Pinga (cachaça festival). For this reason, prices during those days may be more expensive.
